Friday Apr 4
Senior producer at MSNBC is looking to talk to terminated folks. If you, or anyone you know, would want to participate in a large town hall style thing (50-60 workers, she said?) and potentially share their story, can you put them in contact with me? @R2750.86 on signal
I’m also looking for people whose grants were cut/rescinded for 3 different efforts (litigation, congressional committee information request, and an advocacy media campaign).
For the litigation piece, I specifically need folks who had one of these types of grants impacted: MOSAIC awards, MARC, U-RISE, G-RISE, Bridge to the baccalaureate, Bridge to the Doctorate, PREP, F31 Diversity, Kirschstein NRSA, T32, FIRST. Looking for people whose grants were cut to build the case for a temporary restraining order. If their grant has been cut and they are willing to help (could be anonymous) please send them my way. @R2750.86 on signal
Reuters is working on a 100 days milestone story that explores some COLORFUL ways that DOGE has made the government less efficient. It is less focused on the well-known policy mistakes (forced rehiring of workers, etc.) but more on colorful and previously unreported ways in which well intended measures have resulted in inefficiencies. This could be like credit card limits going down to 1 dollar means workers have to wait weeks to replace a broken part instead of a just using a USG credit card to buy the item at a local store, or research being canceled weeks before a long term project is set to bear fruit, etc. It would absolutely not be to quote you. If you have any examples, please reach out to Alex Alper 202-770-8923 on signal or by email alexandra.alper@tr.com.

Crowdsourced advice for federal employees on RIF

It’s a pretty general RIF letter. It says that HR will be in touch within 14 days to tell us what our “package” is. However the RIF letter did not come from our HR. So our HR has actually said there’s no way they’re going to get us that information (because they fired all of them too so there are very few of them.) my best recommendation is to familiarize yourself with your agency’s guidelines so that you know what they’re violating when they issue the RIF letter. Indeed, download that information for your agency’s policy manual before they take it offline. You should also be familiar with your own situation meaning know what your severance or retirement benefits should be. Don’t rely on your HR because if it’s anything like us, they’re totally overwhelmed. – from a Fed Signal chat

Legal Action

The Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia is looking to talk to DC resident Federal career civil service workers (including those who may have been recently terminated) about (a) threatened or actual terminations (b) any political loyalty or patronage tests that have been imposed on federal workers. If you have information you would like to share with the office, please contact workers@dc.gov.
UPDATE: OAG is looking to connect with terminated probationary employees who are open to signing a public statement related to their termination. Anyone open to that can contact Hannah.Cole-Chu@dc.gov. Please provide your agency, state of residence, and city/state of duty station in the email. Please note that due to the volume of correspondence the office is currently receiving, they will not be able to respond to every message.
I’m looking to apply my legal skills to compensate federal employees who’ve been fired by DOGE or whose livelihoods have been damaged by DOGE’s impoundment of federal funds. Do you know anyone who fits these categories? If so, could you give them my contact information? I’d like to talk with folks about pursuing a new, “out-of-the-box” legal action that will take the fight to those calling the shots at DOGE. There would be no charge for the consultation and no attorneys fees at all unless there is a recovery (a contingency attorney fee). Any help you could provide would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Of course, this is an emergency situation so your quick action would be greatly appreciated.
